Thailand Open: Sze Fei-Izzuddin must overcome bogey team in semis

Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin must device a bulletproof plan to get past one of their bogey opponents at the Thailand Open semi-finals on Saturday.

The Malaysians had to come from a game down to book their spot in this Super 500 event after beating Scottish twins Christopher-Matthew Grimley 19-21, 21-15, 21-8 in the last eight on Friday.

Their reward is a contest against the top seeded pair Chirag Shetty-Satwiksairaj Rankireddy.

In nine meetings, Goh-Izzudin have only beaten this Indian combination twice, with the last win coming at the 2025 India Open.

But the world number nine have been on a good run at the Thailand Open, and will aim to pose a massive threat to Shetty-Rankireddy.

Despite going a game down against the Grimley brothers, Goh-Izzudin did well to win the second game and comfortably secure the decider, which saw them hold a 11-1 lead at the interval.

This pair are the only Malaysians left in the competition.
